Israel Model Railways Club (ILMRC), the first one in the Middle East, was founded in 1989 by Ya'akov Haran, When he and 2 more Railways' modelers met and decided to form a Model Railways club. Today we are 30 members who meet every week in a disused shelter at Kibbutz "Netzer Sireni" (20 kilometers south-east of Tel Aviv), where we build HO and N layouts operating on the DC system, and also a Marklin (AC) section.

The trains choo-choo happily along the layouts, not true to any period or location, as our motto is "anything goes and have a good time". Most of the equipment and other items we have are from donations and sales. In addition, our activities include exchange of information and catalogues, advice to anyone interested in model railroading, repair of equipment and trips to explore “Israel Railways” history and current developments.

We also operate on much more serious projects: In 3 of the biggest hospitals in Israel, we maintain 4 layouts, all in the children's wardens. Seeing the ill children's eyes glowing and sparkling when the trains run through the landscape, one can easily gets a lump in ones throat... Yes, there are many ways to enjoy our hobby...

The layouts are located: 1. At "Assaf Harofe" Medical Center (near Rishon Letzion), in the Children’s Surgery Dept. The layout was built by one of our talented members, Ehud Pa'amoni, who died unexpectedly a few years ago. 2. At “Assaf Harofe Medical Center”, a new layout in the “Pediatric Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Dept”. 3. At "Schneider Children's Hospital" in Petach-Tikva. This layout was built by Ron Vardi, who died during the Lebanon war. 4. At “Kaplan Hospital” near Rehovot, in the Children Dept. The layout was built by "ModelTrainstore.com" store in Jerusalem.
