Iles Braghetto

Illes Braghetto (born March 9, 1953) is an Italian politician and a Member of the European Parliament. He is vice-chairman of the Committee on Fisheries and a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the delegation for relations with Iran, and the delegation for relations with Canada. He is a member of the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats, which is a part of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats in the European Parliament.

Illes Braghetto was born in San Giorgio delle Pertiche. He taught religion in upper secondary schools in 1976 and graduated in modern literature in 1984. He was a member of the party management board and of the provincial, regional, and national council. From 1980 to 1985 he was a town councillor and deputy mayor of Padua, Italy. He was a regional councillor from 1995 to 2000, during which time he was also a regional minister for health policies and national coordinator. From 2000 to 2005 he was a regional councillor and a chairman of the Veneto's religion committee on planning, the budget, and institutional affairs.
