Ile Maroia Laji

Ile Maroia Laji is one of the oldest Candomblé temples in Salvador, Brazil, founded in 1636. It was designated a Natianal Heritage Site in 2005. The temple was influential in the promotion of Candomblé and in distincing the religion from Catholicism under the leadership of High Priestess Olga de Alaketu in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
