Il Grande Blek

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Il Grande Blek is an Italian comic book, first published in Italy on October 3rd 1954 by Editoriale Dardo. Blek was written and illustrated by trio EsseGesse.

Blek is a leader of a trappers during the American Revolutionary War. They fought against the cruel Redcoats, the symbol of British colonialist oppression. Blek's best friends and buddies in adventure are his stepson Roddy Lassiter and the professor Occultis.

Blek is very strong but has a very gentle character. Most of the Indian tribes and revolutionists respect him. He has very interesting adventures; for example in one of his adventures Indians escape in fear from an unknown civilization of Scandinavians that built a fortress in the snowy hills beyond their area and as a result Blek, Roddy and Professor Occultis find themselves in a thrilling adventure. Normally the adventures are not too long but there are exceptions; as to give an example the adventure with English spy 'The Bat' is a very long one. Blek's adventures are in a consecutive fashion making a comic fan read many different adventures before giving up. Professor Occultis is also a humorous character but he surely can play important roles in some adventures as a daring revolutionist. Roddy can be considered as the son of Blek and his dialogues with Occultis are really funny. These three characters show the meaning of friendship to all readers.

Blek is also famous in some other countries like Greece (where is being published since June 1969), Turkey 'Steel Blek - Teksas' and in France 'Blek le Roc'.
