Il-214

The Il-214 or the HAL Multirole Transport Aircraft (MTA) is an aircraft being developed by Irkut of Russia and HAL of India. It is a transport aircraft designed to perform multiple duties for the air forces of both countries.

The aircraft is to be powered by Russian-made turbo-jet engines attached to top mounted wings. Following the design of the Il-76, it has a T-shaped rear wings mounted on the tail.

The goal of the development would be to replace the ageing An-12, An-26 and An-32s. This aircraft will be able to perform regular transport duties and also deploy paratroopers.

The payload will be 18.5 tons of military or civilian cargo, with a range of 2500 km and a speed of 870 kmph.
