Audra Loyal views herself as a continual work in progress. Currently, she resides in Missoula, Montana, but grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley and has spent significant time in Oregon and Japan. Her user name "ikahime" means "Squid Princess" in Japanese, belying her obsession with that majestic animal, the squid.
[edit] Current Life
Ikahime currently works in the Mansfield Library at the University of Montana in Missoula. She's not actually sure what her job title is, but she likes to call herself a Book Conservation Technician. Although her life has diverted her from this work a number of times, she is glad to be doing it again. She would, however, love to be paid a real wage for it.
She is also in the process of trying to start a business of selling her own handmade pottery and books, and perhaps even being a fine art press for writers of all kinds.
On the airwaves of KBGA, 89.9 FM, Missoula's College Radio Station, she goes by the handle, "The Librarian," and hosts a world music show called "Anima Mundi" on Wednesday nights from 8-10pm.
[edit] Recent Past
Ikahime lived in Kamiishizu, Gifu-ken, Japan in a little house all her own. While there, she taught ESL with the JET Programme and also studied pottery with Shino Master, Tabei Kenji, of Tokiyama. She travelled extensively in the Kansai region, and into the Japanese Alps, her favorite destinations being onsen.
