Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński

Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński was a Polish pianist and composer.
Dobrzyński was born on February 15, 1807, in Romanov, now Dserschynsk, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. He was the classmate of Frédéric Chopin under Józef Elsner. Dobrzyński toured Germany as a soloist and also conducted operas and concerts.
Dobrzyński compositions included: an opera, Monbar czyli Flibustierowie (Monbar, or the Filibuster), 1863; incidental music for performances of Victor Hugo's Les Burgraves, 1860, and of Adam Mickiewicz's Konrad Wallenrod, 1859-65; symphonies; an orchestral fantasy; a piano concerto, 1824; chamber music, most notably, a sextet for two violins, viola, two cellos, and double bass; pieces for piano; and lieder. One of his crowning successes was the Symfonia charakterystyczna, which won a prize in Vienna in 1834.
He died in Warsaw on October 9, 1867.
