Ignacio Ramonet

Ignacio Ramonet (born May 5, 1943, Redondela (Galicia) is a Spanish journalist and writer. He is the editor-in-chief of Le Monde diplomatique. An editorial published by Ramonet on December 1997 resulted in the launching of ATTAC. In addition, Ramonet also founded the NGO Media Watch Global with Roberto Savio as General Secretary. Ramonet also frequently contributes to El Pais and participates in an advisory council to Telesur.

Ramonet grew up in Tanger. He studied engineering at Bordeaux, Rabat and Paris, and is now on the faculty of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris.
