Iglesia Filipina Independiente

Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) or the Aglipayan Church - Is a revolutionary church that broke away from the Philippine Catholic Church during Philippine Revolution that started in 1896.

Most of its founding Filipino priest were symphatetic to Filipino revolutionaries.

It was founded in August 1902 by Father Gregorio Aglipay and Isabelo “Don Belong” de los Reyes who, in 1901, founded the first Labor Union in the Philippines--Union Obrera Democratica (UOD or Democratic Labor Union).
