The Iglesia Episcopal de Cuba (Spanish for Episcopal Church of Cuba) consists of forty-six parishes, and about ten thousand members. It is a part of the Anglican Communion, though part of no ecclesiastical province.
Instead, the Church is under a Metropolitan Council "in matters of Faith and Order." [1] The Metropolitan Council members include the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, Archbishop of The Church in the Province of the West Indies, and the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America.
The Rt. Reverend Miguel Tamayo-Zaldivar is the present interim Bishop.
On February 6, 2007, the Reverend Canon Nerva Cot Aguilera and the Archdeacon Ulises Prendes were both appointed suffragan bishops of the Iglesia Episcopal de Cuba. The Reverend Canon Nerva Cot Aguilera is the first woman appointed a bishop in the Carribean.
