IFC Films

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

IFC Films is an American film distribution company based in New York, owned by TimeWarner. It exclusively distributes independent films and documentaries, its first release being the 1999 drama film Spring Forward. Other releases include Y tu mamá también, Fahrenheit 9/11, Nobody Knows, Turtles Can Fly, and Me and You and Everyone We Know.

IFC First Take was launched in March of 2006 by IFC Films as an attempt to diversify their distribution of independent feature films on video-on-demand along with theatrical distribution, since theatrical distribution for these smaller-budgeted films usually reduces their profitability in theatres. Films distributed by IFC First Take include American Gun and Americanese.
