"If I Was" is a popular song by Midge Ure.

After leaving Ultravox earlier in 1985, Ure went to pursue a solo career. If I Was written by Ure and Gary Mitchell and produced by Ure was his debut solo single. Peaking at #1 on the UK singles chart for a single week in September 1985. This was Ure's third number one, coming after his success with Slik in 1976 and Band Aid in 1984. The song features Mark King of Level 42 on bass guitar.
