IEmulator

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The correct title of this article is iEmulator. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.

iEmulator 1.7.9 is a shareware PC emulator for PowerPC and Intel Macs running OS X 10.3.0 or later, based on QEMU. It has been tested with Windows 95, NT 4.0, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Vista beta 2 and various flavors of Linux.

It has been identified as a rebadged version of Q [kju:], the free Mac OS X port of QEMU. iEmulator is said to violate Q's GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) because it does not supply its entire source code and build scripts. Although the LGPL poses no copyleft restrictions on software that merely links against Q, iEmulator uses Q's actual source code and, therefore, infringes Q's copyright.
