Ides of Space

Ides of Space is an Australian shoegaze band based in Sydney. They have released two albums, "There Are No New Clouds" and "Sleeping Factures," receiving heavy airplay on Australian indie radio stations.

The band initially formed under the moniker Firehosereel three days prior to their first show in a university band competition in 1999. The band was promptly dismissed from the competition due to unpreparedness, but was encouraged to practice. After a lineup change and a brief period of focus, the band emerged in February of the next year to play their first show. They caught the attention of Australian music icon Wayne Connolly who later produced their debut album, a combination of two EPs titled "First Translated in 1965" and "We Have Nowhere To Be."
