Ideal School & College, also known as Ideal High school, is an educational institution in Bangladesh established in 1965. It is a large high school located at Motijheel, Dhaka. Its objective was to spread education to the children in surrounding areas. Currently students studying in the school come from various parts of the city. Due to its strict rules and restrictions, quality education standards, highly qualified teachers, continuous success and achievements in the public examination SSC every year, it is generally considered as one of the best schools in the nation. The objective of this institution is not only to make a student a good citizen & patriot but also to make a good religious person so that the student can realize the duties and responsibilities in this world.

The school was founded on March 15, 1965. Following the inauguration till 1968 it was a junior school. In 1972 the school was converted into a High School. For the first time in 1973, the students from the school participated in Secondary School Certificate Examination (O-level equivalent).

During the first 25 years the school kept its growth as a high school only. Following the demand and the requests from the guardians the school was extended to a college in 1991. But amazingly, this college was restricted only for girls.

Over the years, the exam boards of Bangladesh Education Ministry had an exam-result system in which the highest scoring students were awarded. TIt had 20 places for such students in each discipline (ie. science, humanities, business). Students from this school kept securing places in that merit list over last years. Because of the regulated and well planned teaching method parents were attracted to this school and thus a close contest was started for the admission. To make room for more students the administration felt the urge to open a new branch of the school. A project to open a new branch was proposed which was called "Bonosri Project". On the occasion of the 30th anniversary, in 1995, this initiative was taken. That branch started its activities at Rampura with 702 students and now it is performing as well as the main branch.

As of today, the institution is a High school with a girls-only college.

[edit] Schooling

The school offers primary and secondary education (grade 1 to 10) for both boys and girls even though it is non-co-educational. Generally boys and girls are split into two shifts. Girls attend school in the morning shift while boys attend their classes starting from mid-day (12 o' clock at noon).

Ideal School has qualified teachers with dignified educational background. There are some 105 teachers in the Motijheel section and 67 teachers in the Bonosri section.

The college section is reserved for girls only. It offers higher secondary education (grade 11 and 12) for girls who successfully completed secondary education.

Ideal School is governed by a governing body formed according to the guidance from the education authorities. Like all other high schools the chief of the school section administration is the “Headmaster” while there is “Assistant-head master” in each of the shifts (morning & day shifts). The chief of the administration for college section is the Principal.
