ICON convention

ICON is the name of at least five annual Science Fiction Conventions.
- I-CON is held in Stony Brook, New York, every spring, on the campus of the State University of New York at Stony Brook. I-CON (with a hyphen) is short for Island Convention - a reference to its location on Long Island. Attended by over 6,000 people each year since 1981, I-CON is a three day festival, designed to encourage literacy, creativity and interest in science and technology through science fiction and its related genres. Programming at I-CON spans a wide range of topics and interests, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, comic books, Japanese animation, medieval reenactment, science and technology.
- ICon is the main Israeli annual Science Fiction, Fantasy and Role-Playing Convention (now officially a festival) - standing for Israeli Convention. It's been held annually during the Sukkot holiday in Tel Aviv since 1996, organized by the Israeli Society for Science Fiction and Fantasy, Starbase 972 Club, and the Israeli Roleplaying Society. Its Guests of Honor are notable writers in the field (Orson Scott Card attanded in 2003, Guy Gavriel Kay in 2004, Tim Powers in 2005, and Neil Gaiman in 2006), as well as genre movie directors such as Roger Nygard.
- ICon is organized by fans, for fans, voluntarily, and its organizers are non-profit organizations. It has a core staff of around 50, ranging in ages from 18 to late thirties. It hosts as many as 15,000 fans each year (according to news reports), from all ages.
- Icon is held in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area, usually in October, under the auspices of the Mindbridge Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation which also sponsors the Gamicon and AnimeIowa conventions.
- iCON is an annual Science Fiction, Fantasy and Role-Playing Convention in Turkey, İstanbul held by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Club of İstanbul University .
- Icon was the name of the 2005 National Science Fiction Convention in New Zealand.
