[edit] Inconsistencies
In this page it says his album laugh now cry later has gone gold. In the album's page it says it has gone platinum. Which one is it? Wikipedia needs to be consistent.Drumac 07:36, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Arrests?
In the lyrics to his new song Race Card, which promotes and is the theme song to his show Black and White due out in March, he says that he was arrested, and just like martha stewart, he pled innocent. Does anyone know when he was arrested, and what the charges were? his arrest record is not mentioned in the bio..
[edit] Ice Cube page
Is this guy really the most notable ice cube out there? As opposed to the beverage additive[1], or the particle physics project[2]? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 129.2.40.226 (talk • contribs) 17:39, 14 October 2004 (UTC).
- Ice cubes already have their own page, and there is no page for the IceCube project, so it would seem that Ice Cube is the most notable entity named Ice Cube, with that capitalization and spacing. TOO 19:33, Oct 14, 2004 (UTC)
- yes. he is. who the hell looks up "ice cubes" on wikipedia? --68.38.159.93 18:54, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I posted my thoughts on the matter in the "ice cubes" discussion page. Hopefully we can get this fixed. --Taurus8 sam 02:49, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Well they changed the ice cubes page to ice cube so it directs there now. I would think more people would be searching wikipedia for the rapper/actor than the square of frozen water. Oh well....Drumac 07:39, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] His Parents
Can someone please clear up what ihs parents did at UCLA. On some sites, people say they were UCLA professors. On npr i think he talked and said they were custodians, like working with the lawns and stuff. ~~ sp0 9/11/2006
[edit] OJ
O'Shea Jackson (Ice Cube) was named so that his initials would be "OJ", like OJ Simpson. Someone might want to add this somewhere. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CPS (talk • contribs) 03:40, 13 February 2005 (UTC).
- Be bold.

[edit] Racial aspects of his music
It's been brought up on and off in various media, so the controversial racial aspects of his music should probably be at least mentioned. Most notorious is probably the threat of violence against ethnic-Korean shopkeepers in "Black Korea", although there are dozens of threats of violence against white people that are cited on and off as well. --Delirium 08:29, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
-
- Calling them "threats" is an exaggeration, especially given what we know of Cube's non-criminal background. Saying that they promote highly negative (if not outright racist) views of particular groups of people is more honest.
[edit] Iceberg Slim
what about his name paying homage to Iceberg Slim? i think that is a pretty important thing to add... --timeheater 07:18, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
-
- I would say only if you have a source. Ice T has often mentioned Iceberg Slim in interviews and songs but I've never heard Slim mentioned in context with Cube.
[edit] Muslim
According to this page:http://www.islamicaweb.com/archive/t-13644, Ice cube is muslim.
-
- Well, should I add it to the page?????????????????????
- Anyone?
-
-
- Not on the basis of that page, but if you can find an authoratative source, yes. Rich Farmbrough 14:25, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- Actually it already says Cube toured on Lollapalooza in 1992 and widened his fan base. Also during that that year, he converted to the Nation of Islam. Rich Farmbrough 14:38, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- Not on the basis of that page, but if you can find an authoratative source, yes. Rich Farmbrough 14:25, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
-
- Nation of Islam is *not* a recognized sect of Islam (see Wikipedia entry on Islam for more details)
-
-
-
Cube calls himself a "natural Muslim" so that has nothing to do with Nation of Islam and he also has denied affliating with the Nation
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Cube never officially converted to the Nation. He basically just tagged along. There was some song - I forget which one - where Shorty of Da Lench Mob dissed him for claiming to be an NOI member when he wasn't (Shorty, of course, was a member of Cube's group Da Lench Mob). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.61.200.145 (talk) 01:01, 15 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] NPOV
Very non-NPOV. Repairing some sentances. i.e. "the album was a masterpiece of old school rap" "his lyrics were groundbreaking".
- The way to usually fix that is: "The album is considered a masterpiece by many critics and fans"; "his lyrics are considered by many hip-hop historians to be groundbreaking" (not in these exact words, something like that). In these cases, it's best to have quotes from magazines, hip-hop sources---etc.---which show that a number of critics/hip-hop historians have said things like that. Anyway, there will have to be some mention of the fact that his early work is indeed widely regarded as groundbreaking and that he produced classics and even what some critics consider masterpieces in the genre. Alexander 007 00:22, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
-
- Best to say "considered by some" (not "many")
You might also want to mention that he's racist scum.
I have no respect for racists.
- Yes, that's definitely NPOV, especially without a source. --66.229.183.101 00:37, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
He says blacks started civilisation, who's eating out of our generoisty and laugh like baboons, he's not only a racist, he's misinformed.
It would clearly be unfair to label him racist scum in the same way as it would be unfair to label actors Ian McDiarmid or Gary Oldman as nefarious, especially since outside of his songs, Ice Cube has repeatedly not only worked with people of many races and cultures, but also stressed his keenness for us all to sit down and discuss racial issues and to try to get along and understand each other better. However, the article would be improved by a discussion of the details of all these facts and points of view regarding his position on, and interest in, race.
"our generosity and laugh like baboons"? Who are you talking about? You are the one who sounds racist. I have a question: since when is Ice Cube antisemetic? The only time he mentions a jew is when he is talking about Jerry Hella on no vaseline "you let a jew break up my crew". Come on, it rhymes people.
[edit] Quality Standards - Tagged Since?
--> This article has been tagged since Februrary 1916. <--
Obviously not tagged since 1916. Anyone know when?
[edit] Album list problem?
Laugh Now, Cry Later (2006) (Lench Mob) i think lench is spelt wrong, also, should this be listed under solo
No that's how he spells it. Its a play off of lynch mob
[edit] This Article Needs An Overhaul
Terrible organizational structure, and some pretty bad grammar (mostly fixed by me, I hope) and sentence structure. --Pathogen 18:25, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
The 'technique' section looks like it was written as a high scool short-essay, by someone who is not doing too well in English.
[edit] Location of birth
I already changed it, but someone posted that he is from "Crenshaw, California". Crenshaw is NOT a city...there is something called the "Crenshaw District" which lies for a mile or so right off of Crenshaw Boulevard, which is a major street in Los Angeles. But it is not a city, and no one ever claims to be from "Crenshaw".
- You're not from Crenshaw. People do claim to be from that area.
[edit] pioneered the tactic of dissing a rival over their own beat ?
I don't think Ice Cube ever did a diss track against anyone with the their own beat.
See "Jackin' for Beats" (Kill At Will). Not a diss track, but it WAS the first track to jack beats from other rappers, which has involved to the art of jacking beats from your oponent to use against them.
[edit] Boyz in tha Hood
DJ Yella has stated that Boyz n the Hood was written by two guys from New York. How can we attribute this to Ice Cube? Perhaps someone else can research further and find a proper citation either way, for whomever did in fact write it. (Transcript of published article - http://www.daveyd.com/yella.html)
Ice Cube wrote it, Eazy said that, and so did cube--EZ 02:09, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Someone needs to fix the bottom graph

Can someone upload the album cover for Da Lench Mob's Planet of Da Apes for Ice Cube's discography, I having trouble uploading right now. Payne2thamax
