Ibstock Community College is a school in the North West Leicestershire district, found in the miner's village of Ibstock. Highly successful academically, the school is ranked amongst the top 5% of British Academic High Schools for test results from 2003 to the current day.
Ibstock has a very simple aim in their schooling.
"We aim to provide quality educational, social, cultural, recreational and leisure opportunities for members of our community - Ibstock, and the Southern Parishes of North-West Leicestershire. We aim to do this for members of the Community regardless of age, creed, race, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability. Our aims arise from a belief in an entitlement to education as a lifelong process. We are committed to raising achievement wherever possible."

The school was built ready for the first 398 pupils to enter the building on September 1st 1925, Mr J.V.Measures was the newly appointed first Headmaster. There was a staff of eight certificated and two uncertificated assistant teachers together with one student teacher. The log book records: "The building is still in the hands of bricklayers, carpenters and painters, but the classrooms are finished and where there is furniture work may be commenced."
[edit] Infrastructure
Ibstock Community College is based on the original teaching block, opened in 1925 by then-Principal J.V. Measures. It has since expanded to include recently-redeveloped seperate Science and Modern Foreign Languages & Mathematics blocks.
The school has grown rapidly in recent years, with the Mobile Classrooms all replaced during 2005 and 2006. New Science and Languages & Mathematics blocks were opened in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and both are furnished with modern tehcnology.

The current management teams consists of Mr. Bill Kelly (Principal, Physical Education), Mrs. Rachel Gravesen (Vice-Principal, Humanities), Dr. Jevon Hurst (Assistant-Principle, Science) and Mrs. Dianne Enion (Assistant-Principle). The school is also assisted by Mrs. Lynn Slipper as an Extended Schools Manager. The school has approximately 40 teaching staff, in addition to a dozen classroom assistants and over thirty various other staff.
[edit] Involvement in the Community
The school takes part in many competitions, including regional sorts championships every academic year, especially for Football and Rugby which the school has prided itelf in for many years.

Ibstock is also a strong supporter of the Student Council organisation. There are councils for each year group, and from these 3 year councils, 12 representatives will be elected to join the schools council which will then liase with other schools in the area.
