Ibn Battuta in Fainu

In his book "Dhivehi raajjeyge geography", Maldivian writer Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Lutfee has stated that all two times that Ibn Battuta visited Maldives, he first visited the island of Raa Fainu. It was noted that the island chief at the time was a man originally from North Africa. The population of the island was noted as large with many mosques.
