[edit] Fifth Element

I've added a line about The Fifth Element. I found it missing, since i think the movie is what the newer generations know him for. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.162.113.222 (talk • contribs).

[edit] Why SIR Ian?

How much does it really takes to be knighted? He is not very famous or even conspicuous. In fact I would not have noticed him if he had not been the living person bearing the closest resemblance to Napoléon I. No, he played no part in creating my mental image of how Napoleón looked! Most of it was already in place in 2001 when I browsed through a Lord of the Rings merchandise book. When I saw a photo of Ian disguised as Bilbo he seemed familiar in some way. After a moment the thought hit me that I had never seen a living human more closely resembling Napoleón. But they are no look-alikes: it is easy to tell them apart if you only have a clear mental image of one of them.

You get knighted for charity work or bringing money into the UK. Amo 12:08, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Or for your achievements in the world of art and theatre. Sir Ian is in Britain a very famous theatre actor and he was knighted after his great performance in 'King Lear', heralded in the newspapers as 'the Lear of the century'. I had the great pleasure to see this performance and it was for me the best and most overwhelming portray of Lear, that I have ever seen. So there is much more than just Bilbo and Napoleon! Not really - his Lear was also a massive financial sucess. It improved the profile of British Theatre...Amo 01:04, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Ian is not very famous in Sweden where I live. Apparently, he is in Britain and that is what really counts.
