Ian McLagan

Ian McLagan (born on 12 May 1945, in Hounslow, Middlesex) is an English keyboards player, best known as a member of Small Faces in the 1960s, and Faces in the 1970s.

Since then he has been in demand as a session musician and also leads his own Bump Band, which played at the 2006 Austin City Limits Music Festival.

His distinctive Wurlitzer electric piano can be heard on the Faces' "Stay With Me" and the Rolling Stones' smash "Miss You". It was Mac's trademark Hammond B3 you heard on Small Faces' "Itchycoo Park", Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" and "You Wear It Well" among many others.

'Mac' has many session credits including playing for Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, the Rolling Stones (Most notably on the Some Girls album), Bruce Springsteen and Izzy Stradlin'; he's written a memoir which has lots of juicy bits of 1970s rock'n'roll craziness; is a citizen of Austin, Texas, and is an outspoken evangelist for both The Faces and the lyrical genius of the now departed Faces bass player, Ronnie Lane.

In 1981, he toured with the Rolling Stones on their legendary Tattoo You tour of the United States.

McLagan has also accompanied Billy Bragg on his 2006 "Hope Not Hate" tour.

His wife, Kim McLagan, a licensed aesthetician, was killed in a traffic accident near Austin on August 2, 2006. She was 57, and the pair had been married since 1978. Kim's first husband was Who drummer Keith Moon.
