Ian C. Bradley

Ian Campbell Bradley (born May 28, 1950) is a British writer, broadcaster and academic. He has written several works on Celtic Christianity, hymnody, the theology of sacrifice, and the future of religion in Britain, as well as publishing in the areas of monarchy, the Victorian era, and Gilbert and Sullivan.

Born in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, Bradley was educated at Tonbridge School and New College, Oxford, where he received B.A. (first-class honours, degree in modern history), M.A., and D.Phil. (religion and politics in early nineteenth-century Britain) degrees. After working for several years, he went on to attain a B.D. degree from the University of St. Andrews (first-class honours, degree in theology).
After graduating from Oxford, Bradley worked in radio and television production with the BBC and for the next five years pursued a career as a staff journalist on The Times. He then combined freelance writing with teaching at Cranleigh School. After taking his degree at St. Andrews, he became Head of Religious Broadcasting of BBC Scotland and an ordained minister in the Church of Scotland. He subsequently taught church history at Aberdeen University and is currently senior lecturer in Practical Theology at St Andrews.
Bradley is the authour of over 30 books. He is married and has two children.
Bradley often writes articles for The Guardian, Life and Work and The Tablet. He also appears regularly on television and BBC Radio 4 and has lectured at The International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England.
