Iain Moss was educated at Exeter College, Oxford, in the mid-1970s, where he was a member of the Experimental Theatre Club and the Oxford University Broadcasting Society. While at Oxford, he wrote and directed student revues with Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis including After Eights in 1976. He also wrote extensively for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
