"I Wasn't The One (Who Said Goodbye)" was the second single from Agnetha Fältskog's third English-language album I Stand Alone, released in 1987.
The song was a duet with the album's producer Peter Cetera, the former singer and bass guitar player for the American rock band Chicago. Fältskog and Cetera also recorded a Spanish language version "Yo No Fui (Quien Dijo Adios)" for the South American market that was included on the South American editions of "I Stand Alone" and released on the 12-inch single.
The song peaked at No.93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and hit the same spot in Canada on RPM Top 100 singles chart. It was a more successful Adult Contemporary hit peaking at No.19 on Billboard AC chart and at No, 21 on RPM AC chart in Canada.
Fältskog did not do any promotion for the song in North America, while the video shot in Stockholm did not feature Cetera, which may have attributed to the relatively low chart showing.
