"I Need a Soldier" (2007) |
"I Need a Soldier" is the first single from R&B singer Keyshia Cole's second album Just Like You. The song is set to feature rapper 50 Cent. A video was shot for the song in Los Angeles between March 20 and March 23, 2007. The video will be directed by Norwegian director Ray Kay who has worked with R&B singers such as Cassie, Monica, and Fantasia Barrino.
According to Cole this was the first song written for the album, written while promoting her debut album The Way It Is. The song is co-written by East Coast rapper 50 Cent. The song is produced by Mixtape DJ and DJ Clue.
The song is about a woman who needs a true soldier to love her. Keyshia talks about the ups and downs of having a soldier in her life, and asks if any men out there are true soldiers. In 50 Cent's rap he explains that he can give her what she needs and still always be there for her.
