I Killed the Prom Queen are a metalcore band from Adelaide, South Australia and part of the Adelaide hardcore scene.
They have toured in the USA with Caliban, Evergreen Terrace, It Dies Today and Lamb Of God along with Silverstein and Bleeding Through). I Killed The Prom Queen's most recent record, Music for The Recently Deceased (released July 31, 2006), was produced by Fredrik Nordstrom (Dimmu Borgir, Darkest Hour, At the Gates and In Flames). The record is a display of Australian Metal/Metalcore, merging with the 'Gothenburg sound. Blunt Magazine's reviewer James Cotterell gave the record 10/10.
As of 2006, vocalist Michael Crafter was kicked out of the band, leaving his final performance on vocals recorded on the Your Past Comes Back To Haunt You EP. Although he had recorded all of the vocals for Music For The Recently Deceased it was decided that his vocals and lyrics would be taken off the unreleased album and their new vocalist would write lyrics for the album. Ed Butcher from British band The Hunt For Ida Wave was recruited, and since then, the band had taken on a different sound.
On January 31st, 2007, Vocalist Ed Butcher Flew back to his home town in the UK. In a Statement released later by the band, it was announced that Butcher was suffering from a severe case of home sickness, and that he was to be no longer singing with the band. Tyrone from Mourning Tide temporarily filled the vocalist position during Japan dates. The band is currently auditioning vocalists for permanent replacement. Colin Jeffs, formerly of Bendigo based metal band HeavensLost, is now in Europe with the band trying out as the new vocalist as they tour the UK with British band Bring Me The Horizon (March and April of 2007).
