"I Got the Blues" is a song off of the Rolling Stones' 1971 album Sticky Fingers. Compared to some of the more hard-rocking tracks from that album, "I Got the Blues" is a much slower-paced song, featuring languid guitars with a bluesy feel. It's said that singer Mick Jagger wrote the song about his break-up with Marianne Faithfull, singing at one point:
“ | In the silk sheet of time, I will find peace of mind. Love is a bed full of blues | ” |
Recorded during the months of May through March 1970, the song features Billy Preston performing a wrenching organ solo, and Stones veterans Bobby Keys on saxophone and Jim Price on trumpet.
