I Get Wet is the major-label debut album from hard rock solo artist Andrew W.K.. The album is a full-volume, all-climax rock/metal affair, complete with pounding guitars and background synths.
It is also known for its highly recognizable cover art: a photo of a greasy-haired Andrew W. K. with a large stream of blood running from his nose, down his chin and onto his throat. This cover art caused a controversy in Europe, as it was seen as endorsing cocaine usage. To achieve the effect, W. K. struck himself in the face with a small piece of cinder block during the photo shoot, then added pig's blood to produce a satisfactory amount of blood.[1]
The album went to #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and caused quite a stir, due to its retro sound. The songs "Party Hard" and "She is Beautiful" became smash singles. The opening track, "It's Time To Party", was featured in a commercial for Hotwire.com, a Coors spot, and an Expedia.com ad. "Fun Night" can be heard in the 2003 film Old School.
