The Kev Brown Mixtape (2004) |
I Do What I Do (2005) |
|
I Do What I Do is the debut studio album by American rapper/producer Kev Brown. The album was met with positive reviews but very low sales, even for an independent release.
Following on the heels of 2004's The Kev Brown Mixtape, I Do What I Do is a showcase for the production talents of the rapper turned fulltime producer. Although a capable MC, Brown nevertheless enlists the help of guests such as Kenn Starr, Grap Luva, Cy Young and Phonte of North Carolina trio Little Brother to join him along the way.
On "Outside Lookin' In" Kev Brown laments on the ups and downs of being a relative newcomer to the scene and what may be expected of him. Elsewhere, "Struggla's Theme" sees him joined by Grap Luva to exchange thoughts on the music industry. He also finds time to reminisce over an estranged love interest on "Albany".
An instrumental version of the album was released on March 3, 2006.
