"I Care 4 U" or "I Care for You" is a neo soul song written by American hip hop singer-songwriters Timbaland and Missy Elliott, and also produced by Timbaland. It is the fifth and final single overall from Aaliyah's final studio album, Aaliyah (2001).

The song was released by Blackground/Virgin Records in 2002 and re-released in April 2003. I managed to make the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the Top 5 on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

[edit] Song

The song was originally recorded for Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million in 1996 but rejected because the album was already mastered. It was written by Missy Elliott with Timbaland who also produced the song. The soulful ballad is about a woman comforting a man who was recently rejected by his girlfriend. "I Care 4 U" sold approximately 126,000 copies and was #3 on the US R&B chart and #16 on the US Hot 100 chart.

[edit] Music video

The rare unreleased music video for "I Care 4 U" was directed by Little X. He edited together clips from a Japanese anime movie. Aaliyah is potrayed as a beautiful ghostly female figure serenading a concert audience as she floats around the stadium. In the later half she is potrayed as a bright angel flying through a city. The angel leaves behind several small feathers. It can be found on X's website.
