I Am NOT Going to Get Up Today!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I Am NOT Going to Get Up Today! is a 1987 book by the children's author Dr. Seuss (pseudonym of Theodor Geisel). The book tells the story of a lazy boy who decides to stay in bed despite media coverage and the arrival of the U.S. Marines. The book was one of the last published by Geisel before his death in 1991. At the time of the book's publication, Geisel was suffering from the oral cancer that would eventually take his life. Possibly as a result of Geisel's waning strength, the illustrations were created by James Stevenson. A notable quote from the book is its opening rhyme: "The alarm can ring. The birds can peep...Today's the day I'm going to sleep!"
