Catch Thirty-Three (2005) |
I is a song and EP by Swedish tech metal band, Meshuggah. The song runs for 21 minutes and is the only song on its own EP.
Meshuggah followed up I with "Catch Thirty-Three" which is also one long song (this time clocking in at over 40 minutes) but separated into 13 different tracks.
Many fans have noted that I features a sound similar to the band's earlier work and less like their previous album "Nothing" which had more of an experimental feel.
The song can be split into three definite sections, each representing a different style of Meshuggian playing/history.
Both the cover and disc artwork refers to the title "I". The cover features an eye (a word sounding the same as "I" ofc) and on the disc, the word "aj" is printed, which is also pronounced the same way in swedish and means "Ouch!". The "facial" structures around the eye are all made from multiple bended, shaped, mirrored and resized copies of a face.
