The i360 is a 183m observation tower planned for construction on the seafront of Brighton, part of the city of Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom.

It is intended to stand at the shoreward end of the remains of the West Pier, close to the border with Hove. The tower will be amongst the tallest buildings in the UK [1] and is described as "walking on air" since the West Pier was apparently described as "walking on water".[citation needed]

The tower is designed by architects Marks Barfield, who also designed the London Eye. Plans were submitted in June 2006 and were approved by Brighton and Hove City Council on 11 October 2006 with construction projected to start in 2007.

Construction will include the removal of the collapsed remains of the West pier concert hall, and renovation of the seafront kiosks.

Update: The i360 tower has been given final development approval by the government. Planning permission was granted by Brighton and Hove city council in October of 2006 and building should start in june this summer and if evey thing goes to plan the i360 tower should open next summer 2008.
