The original I.C. Norcom High School was founded in the 1950's. I.C. Norcom High School was founded in 1998 in Portsmouth, Virginia. This School was founded for technology unlike the other local schools like Churchland High School and Woodrow Wilson High School. It's Current Pricinpal is Mrs. Lynn F. Briley.
Her message is:
"I.C. Norcom High School has a rich and proud history with strong ties to the community. The school continues to be the Science, Mathematics, and Technology Center of Excellence where students are provided a comprehensive
program of studies to prepare them to succeed in a technology-driven environment".

I.C. Norcom is a center for Science, Mathematics, English, Business, and Technology education. I.C. Norcom Has Several Technology based courses including: Technology Foundations. Electronics I, Electronics II, and Electronics III. I.C. Norcom's Business education courses include: Computer Information Systems, Keyboarding, and several other business based courses. I.C. Norcom's Science courses include: Physics, Biology, Exerimental Design, ect. It's History education courses include: Study Skills , World History I, African American History, Geography, ect. It's Mathematical courses include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Triginomitry, Geometry, ect.

I.C. Norcom has many extra cirricular activities. They have a Robotics team (2006-present), A track and field team, a wrestling team, A dance commitee, A junior-varsity and Varsity Football Team, a Swim team, Oppurtunity Inc., Tennis team, Basketball team, Two-time in-a-row national Marching band competition Winners (called: The Versatile 100), a baseball Team, Golfing, Field Hockey, and Cross Country.

I.C. Norcom's robotics team was a rookie team during the 2006-2007 school year. They won 13th place out of 32 teams in the First Vex Challenge (FVC). There Instructor is Mr. Daron Moore. During the First Robotics Challenge they had several mentors including: Mr. Willy Pless, Mr. Arthur Ray, Mr. Willy Levingston, and there Sponsor Mr. Wright who owns Wright's Engineering.
