I'm Crazy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"I'm Crazy" is a short story written by J.D. Salinger in 1945 for Collier's magazine. From all his short stories involving Holden Caulfield, this one is most similar to Catcher In The Rye, as it simply recounts well-known scenes with Mr. Spencer and Phoebe differently, although the plot is largely the same. This can have the effect of making "I'm Crazy" seem like little more than a preliminary sketch for the novel. Also, from among the various versions of Holden in other stories, "I'm Crazy" most resembles The Catcher in the Rye, the most popular Holden Caulfield story, and, instead of being only mentioned or shortly described, Holden narrates the story himself.
