i-to-i is a private travel company which helps people find volunteer and paid positions globally. They facilitate teaching english as a foreign language (TEFL), paid teaching placements (PTP), volunteering, gap year travel, and work experience programmes in many countries.
The company was founded in 1994 by Deirdre Bounds as a TEFL certification organisation. Initially run from a bed-sit in Leeds, it has since developed into one of the world’s largest providers of volunteer travel and TEFL programmes, employing 130 staff worldwide with offices in the UK, US, Ireland and Australia.
In 2003 i-to-i set up a charity, The i-to-i Foundation, which provides resources for under-supported volunteer projects in the developing world.
