Iñaki Bonillas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iñaki Bonillas (born in 1981 in Mexico City. Lives and works in Mexico City) is an artist well known for his reflexive investigations regarding light and time, elements that appear as recurrent patterns in Bonillas’ work. There is a constant tautological intention that unifies his production; an example of this is his recurrence to photograph photographies, photographers and light (lets remember that photo equals light). His exercises, mostly multidisciplinary, have become emphatic analytic and aesthetic discourses on the concept of photography, which makes it hard to catalogue him just as a photographer. On more recent years, Bonillas has shown pieces of more personal and introspective content, essays on which he re-signifies the photographic archive of his grandfather and family. Since 1998 he's had an active participation in collective as well as solo shows in America and Europe.

In Mexico, he is represented by Galería OMR.
