Hyson Green
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hyson Green is a small but lively area located to the north-west of Nottingham City. Once famous for crime and poor housing, over recent years it has changed its outlook. It is home to a variety of cultures and there is a thriving local economy.[1]
The area is served by Hyson Green Market tram station on the Nottingham Express Transit. The opening of this highly successful tram system has boosted the area's profile.[2] The area however, still remains a comparatively violent area.[3]
Adjacent to Hyson Green Tram Stop is the Forest Recreation Ground, which holds the annual Nottingham Goose Fair, and frequent sport matches on the grass pitches. There is a small playground, and several tennis courts, which are regularly used by the local population.
The Hyson Green market is held weekly on Wednesdays, and there is the Hyson Green shopping area and a local ASDA supermarket nearby.
