Hypsocormus is an extinct genus of teleost ray-finned fish from the Jurassic era. It was about one meter (3 ft 4 in) long.
An early member of the Teleostei, Hypsocormus was still primitive, possessing old traits such as armored scales. These were small however, and allowed greater flexibility. It was a fast, predatory fish propelled by a half half moon-shaped caudal fin similar to the modern-day mackerel's. Its jaws were highly developed and muscular.
