Hylomys is one of the genera in which the family Erinaceidae family (comprising hedgehogs and gymnures) is divided. Hylomys is one of the five Erinaceidae genera which are formed by furry hedgehogs, also known as gymnures. Their closest relatives, all fossils, include Lantanotherium and Thaiagymnurus.
