The Hyatt Regency Phoenix is a highrise hotel located in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Built in 1976 by Charles Luckman Associates, it is 317 ft (97 meters) tall. The tower is crowned by the Compass, a revolving restaurant located on the 24th Floor.
Predominant materials are textured split-ribbed concrete blocks designed in a natural finish with tinted glass. The finish was designed to coordinate with the design of Symphony Hall Phoenix, which is located across 2nd Street.
The first floor, or lobby level, contains meeting rooms, restaurants and retail outlets. The second floor, or atrium level contains another restaurant and more meeting space totaling 42,000 square feet of rentable space. The atrium rises eight stories while seven walled balconies ring the atrium, offering views of the activity below. The hotel tower rises an additional 11 stories. Floors 22 & 23 house mechanical equipment and the Compass sits atop the tower. Three exterior elevators contain a glass wall giving a view of the eight story atrium and lobby areas. As the elevator glides upward a magnificent view of Phoenix is offered.
