Hwlwighati

Hwlwighati, or Shilighati as it is generally known, is a famous village located in the South Tripura district of Tripura state of India. It is famous for its rich flora and fauna. It is situated some 16 kilometers far from Udaipur, the nearest main town. It is on the banks of the traditionally famous river of Gomati which has its origin on the high altitudes of Boromura hill range and the water which comes passing through the famous Dumbur Hydro-electric Power Dam.

The village of Hwlwighati is 16 kilometers from Udaipur, the largest town nearby. The people here mainly belong to the Jamatia tribe of Tripura who speak the language Kokborok, others being some strength of Bengalis. This village has been famous for being the source of revolution amongst the tribal people in terms of education and religion. It has a market located on the main-road linking Udaipur with Kakraban and Melaghar (which is famous for Neermahal). It has a lush green agriculture farms located around the settlements.
Amenities like school, post-office, telephones and electricity are available. The Shilighati High School located near the Shilighati Market has been serving as the source of education for the local people from many decades and has produced many officers, engineers, doctors and so on.

The Jamatia people residing in Hwlwighati (Shilighati) or anywhere in Tripura are very merryful and soft people. They have been preserving their culture and tradition from long back. They have raised organizations like Jamatia Hoda, which has its origin in Hwlwighati, and the Borok Hoda Thong, originating in Raio village on Killa road.
[edit] Beauty of Shilighati
Being on the banks of river Gomati it gives a pleasant weather all round the year. It has lush green farms surrounding the village. There are small hillocks which gives the village a scenic beauty and also provides a place for the forests to cover. There are plantations of rubber and pineapples around Hwlwighati.
There are some places of religious interests like the Hwlwighati Baptist Church, the mosque in the market place and number of temples.
