[edit] Origin
Lead singer J. Loren Wince grew up in Halifax, Virginia. He later relocated to Culpeper, Virginia. His parents exposed him to gospel and classical music and rock and roll was banned from the household. Wince studied to be a classical violinist and began playing at an early age.
Evan Johns, the drummer of Hurt, is the son of acclaimed rock producer Andy Johns, who is most notable for his associations with Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and Van Halen. Evan Johns was raised in the Los Angeles area and began playing drums at an early age. Along side his famous father, Evan is also the nephew of music producer Glyn Johns (The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin et al.) and cousin of music producer Ethan Johns (Glyn's son) (Ryan Adams, Kings Of Leon et al.)

The Consumation was a self released album containing a few tracks originally thought to be possibilities for Vol. 2. It was released a few years before Vol. 1 and only 2,000 copies were made. The Blackmarket EP is a recording the band has been selling at their concerts, beginning at the 1/20/07 show. It includes 3 live, 2 studio acoustic and 2 unreleased tracks, which were thought to possibly be on Vol. 2. It is suggested that this is the live cd they were planning.[citation needed]
