Hurdman Station (OC Transpo)

Hurdman Transitway Station is a station on Ottawa's Transitway busway. Hurdman is one of the busier stations, perhaps the busiest as it is the main hub of the Transitway network. Hurdman is where the main Transitway route from the west branches off in two directions: one to the east toward Orleans and the other toward South Ottawa. The station is located just southeast of Hurdman Bridge where the Queensway crosses the Rideau River. It is also located near the intersection of Industrial Avenue and Riverside Drive/Vanier Parkway.

There are connections from Hurdman to the nearby neighbourhood of Riverview to the east with a bus-only road connecting to Alta Vista Drive. There are also connections for bicycle users, as Hurdman is located very closely to the Rideau River bicycle path.

The station, as well as the nearby landmarks of Hurdman Park, Hurdman Street, and Hurdman Bridge are all named for the early settlers of the region. A small convienence store can be found within the station. Even though the station is busy, Hurdman is also one of the most isolated stations being almost completely surrounded by tall grassy meadows, with only a few, tall apartment buildings nearby (the 3 Riviera towers on Riverside Drive). To the immediate South are two large artificial hills which cover a one-time garbage dump; they have recently been landscaped to appear more natural.

Hurdman's primary purpose is as a transfer point between many bus routes, and is often busy until very late at night.

When travelling east, it is possible to reach St. Laurent Station in 4 minutes, Place d'Orleans Station in 17 minutes, and Trim Station in 22 minutes. To the south, Billings Bridge is 5 minutes away, and the Airport Station is 18 minutes away.

To the west, the travel times to Mackenzie King Station and Lincoln Fields Station are 5 minutes and 22 minutes respectivly. Beyond Lincoln Fields, the travel times to Baseline Station, Fallowfield Station, Bayshore Station, and Terry Fox Station, are 26, 35, 31, 48 minutes respectivly.
