[edit] Recap

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

On Vilgax's ship, three mercenaries are being interviewed by Vilgax. The first is Sixsix, an assassin robot who's purple armor is covered with various pockets carrying weapons. He also has a personal jet-pack for flight. Next is Kraab, a crustacean-like robot with gold armor, four scythe-like legs, and a powerful pincer on his left hand. He also carries a pike on his back. Hoverboard is the last. With a suit of seemingly impenetrable gray armor, a powerful rifle, and a green hoverboard, he is the most mysterious of the three. Vilgax's voice comes over the intercom, telling them to begin the audition, followed by a swarm of robot drones. Sixsix attacks first, using vast array of weapons to destroy many of the drones. Kraab then joins in, using his powerful pincer to dispose of the rest of the drones. He uses his pike to destroy the final one. With all the drones gone, the same robot Ben fought in the first episode shows up. Hoverboard moves to attack this one, flying towards it on his hoverboard with no regard for his safety. The robot is easily able to blast him, but it does no good. Hoverboard doesn't have so much as a scratch on him, simply floating in front of the robot as if nothing happened. Hoverboard then jumps from his hoverboard and punches his way through the robot, destroying it as he does. Impressed with the audition, Vilgax offers a reward to the first hunter to retrieve the Omnitrix. All three are then sent to Earth.

On Earth in a desert, Max has set up a rather large obstacle course for Ben. Once Max asks if Ben is ready, Ben transforms into Diamondhead. Max tells Diamondhead to use some strategy and not just brute force, since might isn't always right. Diamondhead just says that it may not be right, but it's always fun. Max then starts up the course, sending various cans, tires, wooden targets into the air for Diamondhead to dodge or shoot diamond shards at. Diamondhead easily hits every target, showboating while doing so. Meanwhile, Gwen is sunbathing by the RV, calling Diamondhead a show-off and applying sunscreen. Max reminds Diamondhead to focus and continues the training. Diamondhead is overconfident at this point, not even bothering to look at what he's shooting. This causes him to be hit by one of the tires, throwing him off-balance and causing him to inadvertently fire diamond shards in every direction, nearly hitting both Max and Gwen. They both dodge the shards, but a lucky hit on Gwen's sunscreen bottle causes her head to be covered with the lotion as she peeks out from under a table. Diamondhead apologizes for the incident.

In the RV, Gwen chides Ben for nearly turning them into swiss cheese. He reminds her that he said he was sorry, wondering what else they want from him. Max answers by telling him that he should take the Omnitrix more seriously, instead of being reckless. Ben says that he's defeated a lot of bad guys by this point, so he must be doing something right. Gwen tells him that he's going to screw up one of these times and lose, hoping that she's there to see it. Of course, Ben doesn't believe her. The RV then breaks down.

At the obstacle course, the three hunters are searching the area, having traced the activation signal of the Omnitrix to that location. Hoverboard finds a can with a diamond shard in it, only for Sixsix to fly up and take it with a retractable hook. Hoverboard rips off the hook and threatens Sixsix, which Sixsix responds to in kind, only in a language that is understood only by the hunters. Sixsix ends up backing down and flying off. Kraab follows, spinning his legs at high speed to burrow through the ground. Hoverboard is the last to leave, doing so on foot. As a result, he ends up tripping one of the traps, causing some wooden targets to pop up. Hoverboard blasts them, vaporizing both them and the rest of the obstacle course in the process. He then flies off, dropping the can with the diamond shard as he does.

In a random town, Max is examining the RV. According to Gwen, the town is an abandoned mining town called Slatterville. According to the IntelliMap program on her laptop, it was incorporated in 1857 after the discovery of silver. It was abandoned after the mine ran out. Max eventually finds the problem with the RV. One of Diamondhead's shards managed to find its way into the fuel line. Ben wants to help by turning into an alien, but Max insists that Ben has done enough. With nothing else to do, Ben decides to check the town out. Max has Gwen follow him so he doesn't get into any trouble.

In town, Ben is going though the various buildings, looking through the stuff stored within them. When he hears Gwen calling out to him, he decides to have some fun and activates the Omnitrix, alerting the hunters to his location in the process. Gwen hears the activation and goes to investigate. During her search, Ben passes through her as Ghostfreak, giving her a chill. Ghostfreak makes a joke about her being scared and then laughs to himself, quite amused. Gwen pretends that he didn't scare her. Just then, the ground starts to push up in a straight line towards them. Ghostfreak pulls Gwen out of its path as Kraab pops up. Upon seeing Kraab, Ghostfreak says that he puts the "ug" in "ugly." Kraab ignores the comment and tells Ghostfreak to hand over the Omnitrix, using its real name. Ghostfreak refuses, then moves his eye along the track on his skin, stopping when it's on his back. Now facing Gwen, he asks what Kraab means. She points out the obvious by saying that Kraab wants the watch. Knowing this, Ghostfreak tells Kraab that he can't hand it over since it's stuck to him. Kraab insists that it won't be for long. Ghostfreak says that Kraab doesn't know who he's messing with. Kraab says that he's thinking the same thing. Tired of the banter, Ghostfreak says the classic "now you see me, now you don't" line and turns invisible.

With Ghostfreak invisible, Kraab looks about in an attempt to find him. Ghostfreak tries to sneak up behind Kraab, but he suddenly whirls, having been tracking Ghostfreak the entire time. He then sprays him with an orange chemical that renders Ghostfreak both solid and visible at the same time, making it that much easier for Kraab to beat him up. Kraab explains that the chemical solidified the protoplasm that Ghostfreak is made up of. With Ghostfreak solid, the battle becomes rather one-sided. Kraab easily fights off Ghostfreak's counterattacks while tossing him around the room. When Ghostfreak lands near Gwen, she takes back her earlier comment about wanting to see Ben lose. The fight then continues, with Ghostfreak doing just as badly. Eventually, Kraab blasts him into a wall near a car lift. With Kraab moving in, Gwen points out the lift to Ghostfreak, who activates it. The lift pins Kraab to the ceiling. Ghostfreak then reverts to human form. Not wanting to be there when Kraab gets back up, Ben and Gwen flee. As they do, Hoverboard is seen watching from the rafters.

At the RV, Gwen recaps the battle for Max, including the part about the actual name of the Omnitrix. Ben still wants to fight, wanting to turn into Fourarms and turn Kraab into a seafood special, despite the fact the Omnitrix won't activate just yet. Max says there's no time, having fixed to the RV, and they take off.

On the road, Gwen is on the lookout for Kraab. Ben says that Kraab won't show up if he knows what's good for him. One of the hunters does show up, but it isn't Kraab. Instead, Sixsix is taking his shot at the Omnitrix, cutting through the roof of the RV in order to get to them. Max slams on the brakes in response, sending the hunter flying ahead of the RV. Max then tries to run Sixsix down, but only succeeds in getting all four of his tires popped. Sixsix is still on the road, uninjured from the attempt. With the RV out of commission, Ben, Gwen, and Max flee to a nearby mine shaft. Sixsix moves to pursue them, but is cut off by Kraab, who has burrowed his way to the location. Kraab then attacks Sixsix.

Inside the mine, Ben, Gwen, and Max seem to have eluded the hunters. This is quickly proven to be false when Kraab pops up from the ground, demanding the Omnitrix. Max tries to stop Kraab by tossing a large chunk of metal at him, but Kraab crushes it with his pincer. With nothing else to do, all three run from Kraab, who gives chase. They eventually end up at the quarry in the center of the mine. With a large canyon in-between them and safety, they're trapped. Luckily, Max finds a nearby lift and puts the kids in it. As Kraab approaches, he activates it and jumps to it, just barely reaching it before it's out of range. Kraab is not impressed, preparing to cut the wire holding it up. Before he can, Sixsix arrives and blasts him, turning towards the lift after doing so. While Sixsix fires on the list, Max says that they need a plan. With the Omnitrix recharged, Ben says that they don't need a plan as long as he has the watch. Max points out that that is exactly what the hunters want as Ben transforms.

After Ben becomes Diamondhead, he goes on the attack, jumping on Sixsix and causing them to fall into the canyon below. Sixsix then flies back out with Diamondhead still holing onto him. With the lift taking Gwen and Max to safety, Diamondhead stays behind to take care of the hunters. His plan does not go as expected, though. With Kraab awake once more, Diamondhead is no match for the pair and is quickly knocked out. The two then argue over who gets the reward. As they do, a metal ball is tossed beside them. It releases a gas that renders them unconscious. Hoverboard then shows up and grabs Diamondhead, dragging him out of the mine and back into town.

In town, Hoverboard tosses Diamondhead into some nearby crates to wake him up. Hoverboard then begins to complain about the Omnitrix winding up on Ben when there are billions of other people it could have been found by. When Diamondhead says that it won't come off, Hoverboard explains that the Omnitrix uses alien DNA that binds to the genetic structure of the host, which is why can't easily be removed. Diamondhead tries to attack him during the speech, but Hoverboard easily dodges the attack and sends Diamondhead flying into an empty mine cart. Diamondhead gets up and continues the fight, doing even worse than he did against the other hunters. Hoverboard berates Diamondhead during the fight, pointing out that Diamondhead would have been killed were it not for him, and that an experienced fighter should have defeated the hunters with no problem.

After Diamondhead finally gives up, Hoverboard explains that the Omnitrix is the most powerful weapon in the universe and is the key to an epic battle between good and evil. Once he hears this, Diamondhead asks what side Hoverboard is on. Hoverboard simply points out that he hasn't killed him yet, implying that he's a good guy. He then says that his mission is to retrieve the Omnitrix. With it attached to Ben, he simply plans to take Diamondhead with him and have it removed later. Diamondhead refuses to go, but Hoverboard says that he doesn't have a choice. Diamondhead tackles him, saying that he does. Hoverboard tossess him off and points out his obvious inexperience with his current alien form, since he doesn't even realize what it's strengths and weaknesses are. Diamondhead asks just what makes him such an expert. Hoverboard says nothing, deciding to use a visual instead. He takes off his helmet, showing that he comes from the same race as Diamondhead. Diamondhead is understandably surprised, saying that Hoverboard is him. Hoverboard corrects the statement, saying that he's a great warrior while Diamondhead is an impulsive annoyance just as he reverts to human form. Hoverboard then grabs him and goes looking for his hoverboard. Kraab has retrieved it, having heard the whole exchange. Sixsix is behind him, carrying both Gwen and Max. The two have decided to work together and split the reward, with Hoverboard in half.

Outnumbered two to one, Hoverboard runs into a nearby house with Ben. Kraab fires at him, but his blasts are absorbed by Hoverboard's armor. Hoverboard turns to face the hunters, ordering Ben to stay put. Ben wants to help, but Hoverboard says out that he would just be overpowered and captured. He then leaves Ben behind and goes to retrieve his hoverboard so they can leave the planet. Running outside, Hoverboard uses diamond shards to attack Sixsix and free Gwen and Max. He then dives at Kraab, taking his hoverboard back. After getting some distance on his hoverboard, he dives down and lands on Sixsix. As the two battle, Ben finds that the Omnitrix has recharged. Kraab sees Ben and leaves Sixsix to deal with Hoverboard. With Kraab approaching, Ben takes cover behind a table and starts sorting through the various alien forms. Remembering the advice that both Max and Hoverboard had given him, he moves away from the stronger aliens. When Kraab eneters the builing, he sees the glow of the Omnitrix behind the table. He then crushes it, only to find nothing there. In the rafters, Grey Matter is seen sneaking towards him. Grey Matter jumps on Kraab and starts reaching inside his armor, searching for a nerve cluster. When he finds it, he rips it out, causing the hunter to go haywire and shut down just outside the house.

Outside, Hoverboard and Sixsix are still fighting, with Sixsix starting to get the upper-hand. Grey Matter shows up to help, drawing Sixsix's attention. He attempts to fire a missile at the tiny alien, but is stopped when Max jumps onto his back. Sixsix throws him off and prepares to slice through Max with a saw. This provides a distraction, allowing Grey Matter to hop on his back and do the same thing to him as he did to Kraab. Hoverboard protests the interference, but Grey Matter ignores him and starts pulling nerve clusters in Sixsix's armor, causing Sixsix's jet-pack to fire and take the two on a short trip, crashing through the supports for a water tower along the way. Sixsix eventually shuts down and crashes near Kraab, giving Grey Matter just enough time to move out of the way of the water tower, which is falling towards them. Kraab remarks that he hates Earth right before getting crushed.

With the hunters defeated, Hoverboard takes out a small blue cube and tosses it at them. The cube expands and covers them, then contracts and shrinks them along with itself. Grey Matter reverts to human form as Hoverboard pockets the cube and prepares to leave, promising to come back soon. Ben asks why he's not taking the Omnitrix. Hoverboard just says that it's in good hands for now and gives Ben his hoverboard as a gift. Ben is confused, thinking that Hoverboard needs it to get home. Hoverboard says it was selective disinformation, which Gwen clarifies for Ben as "lying." Hoverboard then activates a teleporter and disappears in a red glow. Once he's gone, Gwen asks Ben why he gets all the cool alien stuff. Ben says it fits his style. Gwen sarcastically agrees, then covers Ben's head in sunscreen, saying that they wouldn't want his big head getting sunburned.

On Vilgax's ship, Vilgax watches as Hoverboard leaves. He's quite annoyed at the betrayal. His subordinate confirms that the mercenaries do not have the Omnitrix. Vilgax figures that whoever possesses the Omnitrix must be as clever as fierce, but is not deterred. He insists that he will not be denied and the episode ends.

Spoilers end here.
