[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Kuzco explains to his teacher about why his homework isn't done, involving an alligator that ate it in revenge for Kuzco preventing it from eating a chinchilla. Mr. Moleguaco lambasts him and informs him that further missed homework will result in failure. Upon hearing this, Yzma decides to turn the situation to her advantage, by turning Kronk into a llama so that he may eat any homework that Kuzco manages to do.

Kuzco's homework is to learn to tie five different knots, although his intent to copy from Chaca is nixed by Pacha. After dark, he sneaks back and steals Chaca's knots, only for Kronk to come along and eat them. Giving chase, he encounters the two old men, and Malina, who don't believe his excuse. She even figures out that he stole from Chaca. Returning home, he is likewise confronted by Pacha, who makes Kuzco sit down and do his homework himself - Chaca kept a backup. After completing it, Kuzco catches Kronk in the act again, and this time manages to catch him, putting his homework into action by tying him up.

The next day, Kuzco brings the Kronk-llama to class in order to verify his excuse. Mr. Molguaco does not accept, and is about to fail Kuzco, when Malina points out that Kuzco's knotsmanship is exhibited in the rope used to tie up Kronk. A mollified Mr. Molguaco is as surprised as the rest of the class when Yzma's potion chooses this moment to wear off, leaving a hog-tied Kronk in an awkward position on the teacher's desk.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Trivia

  • UK Premiere: 28 April 2006
  • The title may be a play on the children's game Hungry Hungry Hippos.
  • Kronk and Mr. Molguaco's "lions and tigers and bears" "oh my" exchange is a parody of a famous moment from The Wizard of Oz.
  • Kronk claims that a llama transformation seems a little "been there, done that", clearly referring to Yzma doing the same to Kuzco in The Emperor's New Groove.
  • Pinocchio is parodied again. This time with Kronk's llama transformation shown only in shadow, in the same way as Lampwick's transformation into a donkey.
  • Kuzco asks if Malina uses his eye twitch to tell that he is lying. This is a possible reference to Bruce McGill's character Jack from MacGyver.
  • Kuzco claims his heart grows three sizes, a reference to the Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (and its movie adaptation).
  • Kuzco gets turned into: Nothing, but Kronk follows him his footsteps and gets turned into a llama.
  • "Pull the lever" gag: A giant vase falls, trapping Yzma beneath. A voice upon entering the car tells them not to lower the bar, it will be done for them (a reference to the loading speil in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion attraction). They are stopped at a toll booth on the way down. Yzma struggles to find the ticket, but Kronk reminds her that it is always in the glove compartment.
  • Bucky appears: eavesdropping on the plotting Yzma and Kronk.
  • "Kuzco's doodles": Kuzco depicts Pacha falling down a hole after telling him to do his own homework.
  • Malina, Kronk, and an old man refer to the excuse, "A llama ate my homework," as "the oldest excuse in the book." Therefore, this llama excuse is clearly based on the old homework excuse, "My dog ate my homework."
  • In the part where Kuzco talks to Pacha about homework, Kuzco said, "But Mr. Guacamoly is gonna fail me!" instead of Mr. Mualaguaco.
