[edit] Physical appearance
Regular Hungarian passports are blue in colour, with the coat of arms of Hungary emblazoned in the center of the front cover. The words "Republic of Hungary" and "passport" are inscribed above and below the coat of arms (in Hungarian). The information page identifying the bearer and the issuing authority is on the inside back cover. As of 29th August, 2006, the Government of Hungary has been issuing new EU-style passports. This passport is burgundy in colour, bears the inscriptions "European Union" and "Republic of Hungary", as well as the coat of arms. The passport contains a biometric chip in its cover.
