Humphrey Go-Bart

Humphrey Go-Bart was the name of a free shuttle bus service that once connected the campus of UC Berkeley with the nearby Berkeley BART station, the university's primary link to San Francisco. The service was launched around 1974 with student drivers employed by the Associated Students of the University of California operating a fleet of eight Mercedes O309-D 14-passenger diesel buses on two routes from a curbside terminal on Shattuck Avenue at Center Street. This service has since been replaced by Bear Transit "Perimeter" shuttles, as well as a multitude of AC Transit routes (which many UC Berkeley students can ride for free by flashing special decals on their IDs).

The name "Humphrey Go-Bart" is a spoonerism of actor and director Humphrey Bogart.
