Durga is a beautiful woman with an incredible talent. Although she is blind, she is very good at pottery. She lives with her mother in their family home. Her father has passed on. She met Babu as a result of a life-threatening accident. He saves her life and fills it with happiness. Durga, using her magnificent talent, creates a bust (idol) of Babu but cries, as she can't see it.
Her mother is killed while they are dating a result of a jealous suitor's rage. Babu continues to remain with Durga, even promising marriage. He also takes her to a hospital where she will have surgery to regain her sight. While she is recovering (prior to bandages being removed) Babu goes off to prepare their new home. The jealous suitor steps in and apparently kills Babu.
Durga sinks into depression. The very doctor who performed her surgery takes her in. She has no one else. He takes her to Switzerland to live. There she meets Raj. Raj falls for Durga at first sight. He feels that her loneliness recognizes his loneliness. Durga eventually accepts Raj's proposal and proceeds to meet his family. His best friend was the one and only Rohit. On the day of Raj and Durga's engagement, Raj goes to pick up Rohit from the hospital. Rohit recognized Durga straight away but he didn't say anything. Durga feels that Rohit is familiar and strangely quiet around her. By chance she overhears him speak and immediately recognizes the voice. But she tries to convince herself that Rohit has died and that that cant be him. She finaly tries to ask him but he denies it. She ran into him in the dark house and touches his face; she immediatly recognized the feel of his face. This gave her full assurance that it was him. Just as she recognizes him in the dark, he runs/walks away. After her attempt to catch up with him, she runs back to her room and tries to make the idol she had made previously. After many attempts she fails. So she blind folds herself and tries again. Just as she finishes, she pulls off the blindfold and realizes that it is him. Rohit is her Babu. She confronts him and he asks her to keep quiet for Raj's sake as they both care for him very much. After much talk and persuasion, she agrees for Raj's sake to keep quite. But it's as tuff on her as it is on him. durring the henna night, Raj sees that Durga and Rohit are acting strangely.
Raj figures everything out during his wedding ceremony. He approaches Rohit gun-in-hand and accuses him of trying to take Durga away from him.
