Humberto Quintero [oom-BERR-to kin-TAY-ro] (born August 8, 1979 in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball catcher who plays for the Houston Astros. Previously, Quintero played with the San Diego Padres (2003-04). He bats and throws right handed.
One of eight San Diego catchers behind the plate in 2003-04, Baseball America ranked Quintero number 19 in the Padres farm system. He made two trips to the Padres in 2004, starting 19 games. He went 9-for-18 in his first five games after his first recall from Triple-A Portland Beavers, on June 21.
Quintero was sent to the Houston Astros in April 2005.
In a two-year career, Quintero is a .242 hitter with two home runs and 12 RBI in 35 games.
